This is a selection of scenes from the 71-minute animated film 'Behind the Telescopes', for which I did all of the animation, design, backgrounds, and postproduction. The making of the film took a whole year and it was an incredible amount of work, because there were no other animators involved. When the film premiered in October 2016, it was exactly one year after the first brain storm sessions. It was a very special moment to see the result on the big screen.
The story and direction was done by harpist Lavinia Meijer, who also plays live on stage with every screening of the film, together with sound designer Arthur Antoine. This creates a very unique experience for all the visitors, as they are looking at a live concert, as well as a movie screening with a live soundtrack and sound effects. The music of the film is based on compositions by James Horner, John Mayer, Philip Glass and many more. The music is played by Lavinia Meijer and the sound design is done by Arthur Antoine.
The film was made in TVPaint, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects.
