We are delighted to launch our 2017 exhibition programme with a major exhibition by Turner Prize Winner (2002) Keith Tyson titled, Turn Back Now. The display (of over 350 pieces) features 20 years of Studio Wall Drawings and new work, which will cover the entire ground floor gallery spaces. The majority of these works have never been on public display before.
Tyson's Studio Wall Drawings map his experience of daily existence and record deeply personal moments, creating a space to consider universal questions. These works, in Tyson’s words are, ‘a kind of emotional headline of the day.’
This exhibition explores some of the most fundamental preoccupations of our shared human experience, taking the universe and our place in it as the subject. Tyson's rich artistic practice, encompassing painting, sculpture, drawing, machines and systems, shares a fascination with infinity, the nature of being, and the origins of life.
The exhibition will open to the public on Saturday 28 January 2017.
