Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki and GAVI’s interim CEO make speeches at a launch ceremony in Nairobi to mark the global roll out of a new pneumococcal vaccine, which protects children against the world’s leading killer of children, pneumonia.
Representing the very latest in technology and engineered specifically for developing countries, the new vaccine is expected to save 700,000 lives by 2015 and as many as 7 million lives by 2030.
