A Finnish human rights defender Jyri Jaakkola was killed in 2010 by paramilitary troops in the state
of Oaxaca in Southwestern Mexico. Mr. Jaakkola’s mother Eve Jaakkola has since then been trying bring the murderers of her son to trial.
The documentary film evolves from a story of an individual’s fight for justice into a more general
narrative about a struggle against a culture of
impunity which prevails in Mexico. It shows bluntly why Mexico has such a dismal human rights record.
