This video features the voices of multiple survivors who have come together to assert that our collective vision for a world without gender-based violence persists in the face of the impending administration.
Produced by Oakland-based art-activism collective, DISCLOSE, this video was part of bi-coastal direct actions - organized by DISCLOSE and Baltimore-based FORCE:Upsetting Rape Culture - during which content from and the video itself were projected upon the Washington DC Convention Center and the Oakland Police Department Headquarters.
The artists involved in the making of this video acknowledge that the voices of many communities impacted by gender-based violence are not represented here. In our work, we seek to center the voices of POC, trans and gender-nonconforming folks and all women. We acknowledge the great risk and vulnerability disclosure requires; a risk that is always present, though greater for some. We honor the survivors who told their stories in this project, and honor all other survivors, some who have disclosed and some who have not, as essential contributors to the articulation of our resistance.
