Client: Control Machete / Universal Music Mexico
Project Type: Software Development, Video Post-Production
Period: Aug. 2003
Our friends from Control Machete, a well known mexican hip-hop act, together with Mario Videgaray (who was leading the production of their CD/DVD release of Uno, Dos, Bandera) contacted us to post-produce the video for "Bien, Bien", the first single off the album.
Fresh off our experience with Infinity, we embarked once again on producing video by using our own custom software: but this time around we used time as the main metaphor. We wrote Control, a small piece of software which steals pixels from the past few frames in the dark regions and future pixels from the next couple of frames in the lighter regions of a frame. Together with the deliberate glitchy aesthetic, this treatment gives the illusion of our protagonists trying to catch up with themselves all the time. We then used a similar series of image-treatments for a second video on the album, "En el camino".
