As a business professional in the canine world and owner of a specialist venture – Lydur Gudmundsson’s Canine Company – I often get asked a lot about dog breeds. People are not sure about which are the best breeds for the size they are aiming to get and the honest answer is, there is no obvious answer! Each breed has its advantages and disadvantages and it’s just about taking that all into account.
However, what I wanted to do with this video is highlight some of the top breeds to consider on the smaller end of the scale. It can be an easy mistake to make to go for the obvious breeds that are circulating in the press right now however, due to their popularity, these actually tend to be more expensive.
Some other breeds that might be good to look more into include the Pomeranian, which other than its ridiculously furry and adorable look, it also has a life span of up to 16 years. Yet, issues such as molting can arise and this is an area people often neglect to think about.
Furthermore, if you wish to have a little dog that is relatively hairless then a Russkiy Toy might be a good option for you.
All these kinds of questions can be discussed further on my blog under my name - Lydur Gudmundsson – yet I hope this video of some of the smallest dog breeds can help you begin your search!
