Depicting the encounter between two men on a deserted road, If We Never Meet Again is a distillation of cinematic codes shot from ground level and from a great height. The work, a choreographed sequence recalling classic scenes in spy films, considers how traditional moments (in this case the exchange of ‘things’ by men) can be reread when seen from different cinematographic perspectives, and how intimacy (presented in the closeup) and distance (presented in satellite imagery) can be manipulated to propose new meanings.
