"I went into studying film believing that it is a great way to spread awareness or send a message to the world.
Before Auriol mentioned to me that she would like this song to represent Alzheimer's, I already had an idea of someone stuck in a world they were not happy in, but I didn't have a concept or cause to follow, and for someone who has lost a grandfather to Alzheimer's, it is a very personal topic. I remembered him looking in the mirror and asking us who the man staring back at him was. This is what gave me the idea to show the two different realities some Alzheimer patients have.
The lyrics of the song go so perfectly with the theme, that it almost seems like the song was written for the film and not the other way around.
It is a very deep and emotional film, that still brings a tear to my eye (being as the beautiful lady acting in the retirement home was my real grandmother), but I truly feel it brings across the message, as it shows how those with Alzheimer's struggle to accept this life that they don't know, and are still hanging on to their younger selves.
So, if you find yourself crying or trying to fight back a tear after watching this, then this little film has done it's job."
