Triad Group, the worlds largest manufacturing company of alcohol prep products is being blamed in a lawsuit filed recently by Perdue & Kidd LLP for the death of a two year old boy. The lawsuit states Harrison Kothari was in a hospital being treated after a operation when a Triad alcohol prep pad was used to clean an drain inserted in his spine. Shortly thereafter, the boy died of bacterial meningitis, doctors say the bacteria entered the boy's body through the spine port.
Nearly a month later Triad Group recalled all lots of its alcohol prep pads, swabs and swab sticks, saying there was a chance they could be infected with the bacteria Baccillus cereus, the same bacteria that doctors believe caused Harrison's meningitis.
