When Emma Johnson looks at a tree, she sees a carbon storage system because trees store carbon dioxide and prevent it from going into the atmosphere. Curious to know how much carbon dioxide is stored in Australian hardwood trees, Emma worked out a formula for calculating carbon dioxide stored in trees by studying the height of red ironbark trees and the diameter of the tree.
