American artist Ryan Trecartin, whose exhibition ‘Any Ever’ will soon be on view at The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery in Toronto, Canada, discusses his acclaimed video practice in conversation with curators Helena Reckitt and Jon Davies as part of the gallery's International Lecture Series.
Educated at the Rhode Island School of Design and based in Philadelphia, Trecartin has been heralded as one of the most exciting artists to emerge onto the contemporary art scene. Recent solo exhibitions have been held at the Wexner Center for the Arts, Columbus (2008), Hammer Museum, Los Angeles (2008) and Kunsthalle Wien (2009). In 2009, Trecartin won the inaugural Jack Wolgin International Competition in the Fine Arts, the world’s most generous juried visual art prize, and was also named New Artist of the Year in the First Annual Art Awards at the Guggenheim Museum, New York.
