The bird stalls were removed from la Rambla in Barcelona in 2011 because they violated animal protection laws. But animals are still being deprived of their freedom in many parts of the city today.
Commissioned to create the Christmas lights by the “Amics de La Rambla” association, Claret Serrahima, founder and CEO of Clase Bcn, has designed these illuminations as a protest that supports retailers and reclaims the origins and soul of the city of Barcelona. Using neon tubes, the trees of this famous avenue have been filled with five species of bird associated with the city. A design based on a traditional concept but with a contemporary appearance.
