After a bunch of technical crap and a multitude of other issues, I have FINALLY finished my 1-minute video project.
My third animation and second featuring the lovable Shad. The assignment was to create a 1 minute video chronicling firsts. Basically, this video is about the social insecurities everyone has to overcome, in some capacity, to meet other people. It is called The First Day because this is when you start your first day somewhere, be it at a job or a school or an institution, you don't know anybody and must go outside your comfort zone to meet new people. I really felt like this on my first day of University and since this is my freshmen year at Ryerson, I thought it was appropriate a theme. This covers first time being somewhere and social firsts.
I made the backgrounds filmed because, like the Spark Comics I occasionally do on my Deviant Art, I like to ground characters in the real world, both appearing as and doing totally unreal things. This was the first time I've translated this aesthetic to film and animation though. I've had several years of experience doing media production, but It was quite difficult to try something new like this and some changes had to be made during editing. Also, I also had to re-shoot the backgrounds once to better fit the animation. This was quite an insightful project and I learned quite a bit and tested a variety of methods and programs I hadn't tried before.
Special thanks to the great Konstantino Kapetaneas who quickly pulled a miracle and created the amazing music featured in the video in just a few days. It really made the video better as it was previously silent.
Anyway, enjoy! :)
