AADNEVIK’S A/W 2011-12 collection is heavily influenced by one of the most infamous music cultures, Black Metal. This radical sub-genre of heavy metal is a dark mix of mythology and heritage and represents humanity’s lustful and animalistic self, a self free from society and constraints where the human is stripped bare to it’s most natural being. Black metal music is composed to feel like a scream awaking a dormant mind and reminding us of our untamed selves.
Black metal revelers are instantly identifiable by their dark, leather-bound outfits where sharp lines, metal embellishment, and mythological references feature heavily. AADNEVIK’S A/W collection effectively balances and juxtaposes the wild, hedonistic style black metal fans use to express themselves, where buckles, zips and leather feature prominently with soft feminine flourishes such as chiffon, velvet and flashes of expressive and naturalistic colour, including emerald greens and blood reds. Much like black metal culture’s celebration of untamed nature, AADNEVIK uses materials that echo this feral adulation including fur, leather, and feathers.
