First Contact documents the story of the Nahua, an indigenous group from the Peruvian Amazon. For a long time, the Nahua lived in voluntary isolation, until 1984 when they were forced into contact with loggers who wanted access to their territory. Within six months of the first contact, half of the group had died after being exposed to contagious diseases. The film aims to record the story of the Nahua and other groups before it is too late, and to use their voices to increase awareness of indigenous groups living in voluntary isolation.
