In this interview, Sue Thrasher discusses some of the bigger questions she wrestled with as a white female civil rights activist. As she worked with the Southern Students Organizing Committee and the Institute for Southern Studies, Thrasher--though she says she used more instinct than analysis--confronted issues of identity even as she confronted racial segregation.
