The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard was established by Sheriff John Duffy in the late 1970’s to honor and pay respect to fallen Deputies and project the excellence of the Sheriff’s Department to the community.
The Honor Guard consists of 30 Deputies. Their duties include Color Guard details, Rifle Team, and Funeral/Memorial details. Additionally, the Honor Guard performs other ceremonial functions as requested. Members of this detail perform Honor Guard duties on top of their patrol or detentions assignments.
The Honor Guard’s Mission:
“The San Diego Sheriff’s Honor Guard has been established to represent the Department, its Deputies, and their families.
