Shot in 2002, this documentary was originally aired on Bravo in Canada in 2003. It follows Canadian cellist Denise Djokic (with friend and pianist David Jalbert) on a seven day tour of northern British Columbia. In the process, she reveals much both about herself as a performer and person, and shatters more than a few stereotypes about classical music.
Written, produced, directed & edited by Paul Kimball.
"In showing how charming this talented and beautiful young woman is, and how sensitive to people's feelings, as well as how grateful for their admiration of her artistry, Kimball's documentary blows the myth of the aloof and elitist classical artist out the window... In capturing her naturalness and genuine modesty - it's clear she does not think of herself as a star but only as a young artist who works day and night at her art - Kimball does good service to the art itself. Well worth seeing."
