In 1983 had een groep dove jongeren in Nederland film KOFFIE gemaakt om de thema van het congres DOOF-ZIJN, EEN WERELD VAN VERSCHIL te verbeelden. Het is de tweede nationale congres, die georganiseerd is door Stichting Nederlandse Dovenraad. De reakties van doven op de film waren dat ze aangegrepen voelden door zeer herkenbare beelden. Horenden stelden dat zij zich goed kunnen voorstellen wat het is om buitengesloten te zijn en waarom doven voorkeur hebben voor een eigen gemeenschap.

In 1983 a group of Deaf youth in the Netherlands made film KOFFIE (COFFEE) on the theme of the conference DEAFNESS, A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE. It is the second national conference, which is organized by Dutch National Association of Deaf. The reactions of the Deaf people in the film were that they felt affected by highly recognizable images. Hearing people argued that they can imagine what it is like to be excluded and why deaf preference for their own community.
