"Underground Electronic Music," by Andria Benet
A very brief review of underground electronic music from computer to dub, disco, tape, film, soundsystem, sound clash, scratch, electro, drum 'n bass and more. Learn about some of the key figures and moments that shaped electronic music as we know it today.
Andria Benet's interest in electronic music began in the late 90s after being invited to underground dance clubs and parties around the country. After earning her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology, she moved to SF and found herself an unwitting insider to the early days of UK grime/dubstep in America. In 2012 she formed the award-winning electronic music and arts nonprofit Protos, and is currently writing her debut multimedia piece Ode.
