In a co-design process Digital Calligraffiti brings together young representatives of the refugee communities in Berlin, new media artists, traditional calligraphers & calligraffiti artists, who work together in order to create stunning tags with meaningful messages. Under the guiding principle 'Urban screens are our Walls!' the calligraffiti artworks were animated to create an artistic campaign for the urban screens of Berlin.
The calligraffiti messages were also projected to distant cities, as a networked scenario, using the interactive table Infl3ctor - especially designed for Digital Calligraffiti by the media artists and engineer Michael Ang and calligraffiti artist Hamza Abu Ayyash.
Digital Calligraffiti took place during January 2017 in the framework of transmediale / CTM Vorspiel in Berlin and Chroniques Festival in Marseille. It was also Lab #3 of the project Future DiverCities, co-funded by the EU Creative Europe program. http://futuredivercities.eu/
