How often do we pray? Prayer is our lifeline to God! He invites us to pray! He hears our prayers! What does a lack of prayer reveal, if not a refusal to depend on God? By not praying we are essentially telling God that we can do life on our own, independent of Him. This sounds an awful lot like Adam and Eve’s motive for disobeying God in the Garden of Eden. Believer, beware! In our passage Jesus is found sending his disciples ahead of him so that he might spend some time with His Father in prayer. Jesus was constantly on the go, being bombarded by unruly crowds and surrounded by opposition. What did He do? He prayed! He was never too busy to stop and pray. He exercised His dependence on the Father. May we follow His example and daily look to the Father for strength as we follow the King! Prayer is a way for us to demonstrate our dependence on the Almighty God and commune with the King! As Paul says in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: (16) Rejoice always, (17) pray without ceasing, (18) give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. May we be people of prayer!
