Wading in the Unknown: The Importance of Contemporary Art Education
What is the role of art education in contemporary schools?
How can we honour contemporary art as a voice and lens in society in our classes?
The art world has long since moved past dead white European artists and methodologies. How have our pedagogies reflected this?
Stacey Abramson shared her journey as a visual art educator in the public school system in Winnipeg and her experiences thus far as an Art21 Educator – Contemporary Art for Contemporary Classrooms. Explore how the thinking of contemporary artists fused with inquiry-based learning can add a current critical depth that could greatly assist student’s learning and their understanding of their (unknown) future. She was joined (via pre recorded video talk) by Joe Fusaro, Senior Education Advisor for Art21.
