Sibling Battles: Learning Rules of Cooperation
(Two Families; Family 1, two boys, ages 4 & 7; Family 2, two girls ages 2 & 3).
Two brothers duke it out all day long. Dad calls it horseplay, Mom calls it dangerous. Sharing and taking turns are issues, as well as disrespectful language and aggressive behavior. Dr. Weiss empowers Mom, talks about personal space for everyone in the family, and teaches the boys about self-control and playing nicely. In the second segment, two little sisters fight all day over toys, marbles, and Mommy’s lap. Dr. Weiss enters the scene and a long and loud battle ensues. Then, through play, Dr. Weiss models sharing and taking turns, remarkably transforming upset children into smiling and cooperative playmates.
