With the conclusion of the Lord’s Prayer, we also conclude our study of the Heidelberg Catechism. It is fitting that we end both with a plea for our sanctification with a view to God’s kingdom, power and glory.
Throughout our study of the Catechism and the Lord’s Prayer, we have constantly been confronted with our sin and need for salvation. We also learned to look to Christ for our deliverance. Finally we are learning to lead holy lives by God’s help. And in so doing we might ascribe to him all the sovereignty, power and glory forever.
Pastor William Boekestein concludes a year-long biblical study into the basics of Christian doctrine using the Heidelberg Catechism (1563) as a guide. This catechism follows the outline of the book of Romans and thus clearly explains the gospel by hitting on the main points of man's sin, Christ's redemption and man's gratitude.
