This < 3 minute video is a walk-through of the nonpartisan experiential exhibition, “I Approve this Message: Decoding Political Ads.” It was created for you to experience for yourself the many techniques used to manipulate your emotions during a national presidential campaign.
The exhibit launched in 2016 at The Toledo Museum of Art, during the same week as the Republican and Democratic national conventions. Surprisingly, both Trump and Clinton supporters were exhibit sponsors. The exhibit was updated for the 2020 election with an expanded focus on new media techniques for the New-York Historical Society Museum; however, it was cancelled due to COVID-19.
