Stormy Studio were commissioned by Weatherhead to create a unique and engaging video to use at the heart of their new website design.
Jon Draper our lead animator (turned film director) at Stormy Studio came up with a number of video creatives for our client. We then developed the chosen narrative further, creating hand drawn storyboards, design boards and animatics. With a cinematic feel through out the stunning filmed shots were raised further with hand drawn animated elements motion tracked in the scenes.
An awful lot was learnt on the project. With the shop being built over a number of nights in a garage using materials mostly borrowed from an old broken up chicken run. The filming took place over 3 days, the opening house shots were filmed month before the rest as we waited for the Blue Bells to pop up in the wood.
Most of the shots were then shot in reverse order, allowing us to film the finale shot in the woods first with a EZFX camera jib. We then slowly deconstructed the shop.
Some entertaining moments happened on the shoot... kids that don't like balloons being a surprising hurdle.
We then worked with the excellent web design team at Elixel as they build up a new site making use of various illustrations created during the videos production.
