The Olde Good Things store at 302 Bowery is part of the changing face of one of New York City’s most iconic neighborhoods. The thoroughfare is the oldest on Manhattan Island, famous for housing the former Bull’s Head Tavern where George Washington stopped in for a drink before watching the British troops depart from the waterfront in 1783. Later, the area morphed into New York City’s notorious “Skid Row”, populated by offbeat theaters, dance halls, saloons, and flophouses. More recently, the Bowery was known as NYC’s lighting district.
