My Name is Sydney is a 20 minute documentary short exploring the world of sixteen-year-old Sydney Edmond who lives with Autism. After ten years without an ability to communicate, Sydney discovers an unusual way of expressing her inner thoughts. Her coming of age raises questions about the role of language in our search for identity, while her lyrical writing invites us into a world where senses react differently, light flicker brilliantly and music offers a gateway to connect with the world around us.
This project was a National Finalist for the Student Academy Awards, received an IDA David L. Wolper Award Nomination and played at film festivals around the world including Doxita's Touring Film Festival & the True/False Documentary Film Festival
