With climate change expected to threaten communities in many low-lying Pacific nations, the inhabitants of the Solomon Islands’ man-made islands are particularly concerned. Having constructed their homes over generations by piling up rocks in shallow lagoons, residents are now racing to build them higher, worried that rising sea levels could force them to relocate and abandon their traditional way of life.
