For our second school-wide Enrichment Day on March 1, 2017, students in K-5th grades put their knowledge of sound and musical ability to the test.
First through fifth grades met with Cantor Nelson for a special lesson on how to incorporate lyrics into a song. The students composed a poem together, and then, under Cantor Nelson’s direction, the students learned how to compose a tune to accompany their lyrics.
They learned about vibration and sound in science with Mr. Krotenberg and Mrs. Safra, and families of instruments in music with Mrs. Berney and Mrs. Sacks.
After filling their heads with information, the boys and girls were ready to become part of a rhythm band and construct their very own musical instrument and compose an original song. After lunch together, each teacher selected a group from their classroom to perform their act live in front of the student body.
Special thanks to Mrs. Roman, Elementary Enrichment Specialist, for organizing the 2nd Enrichment Day.
