As you age, your lens can become completely or partially clouded. This cloudiness is called a cataract. This cloudiness scatters the light and prevents it from being focused properly on the retina. This can result in blurred vision, double vision, faded colours, and poor night vision. There are many different things that can cause cataracts, including but not limited to age, heredity, injury, disease, or diet.
A mild cataract can be treated by a change in your prescription and should be monitored by an eye care professional. However, if the cataract develops to a point that affects your daily activities, surgery may be recommended.
