“FAFSA is a pain in the butt.” That sums up what many college students feel about FAFSA - the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It has been identified as a major obstacle for American Indian high school students from continuing their education at the college level.
To address this problem, the Blandin Foundation of Grand Rapids, Minnesota awarded a grant to the American Indian Studies Program at Itasca Community College (ICC) to produce two information videos.
The first video was produced in October 2008 and called O-Gitch-I-Dah Talking Circle About FAFSA which includes testimonials from ICC Ojibwe students, faculty, and staff. O-gitch-i-dah is the Ojibwe word for warrior and the name of the American Indian club at ICC.
