A look at the Irish General Election Count Centre, Castlebar, for the constituency of Mayo, February 26th 2011. Fine Gael won a record four of the five seats with party leader and now Taoiseach, Enda Kenny being elected on the first count. The count started 9.30am on Saturday and concluded at 4am the next day. The previous Government party Fianna Fail were decimated in this general election. Two weeks after the election Fine Gael and the Labour party formed a coalition for a new government. Counting of votes in Ireland continues to be done by hand despite efforts to introduce electronic voting.
