A heartbeat-based rhythm to memorize the 16 Guidelines for a Happy Life.
A heartbeat rhythm to learn the names of the 16 Guidelines for a Happy Life.
From the Rhythm of Virtue, by Denise Flora, c2017, inspired by the 16 Guidelines for Life.
The rhythm of the heart
Start with a heartbeat or two. Lub Dub. Lub Dub.
Using your dominant hand, tap this heartbeat on your chest. In fact, for this chant, start with four heartbeats as an intro. On the fifth Lub Dub say “Hu-mil-” and then say the rest of the word, “i-ty” during the resting between heartbeats. On the sixth Lub Dub say “& Pa-” and then say “tience” and rest. On the seventh Lub Dub say “Con-tent-”, then say “ment &” during the rest. Finish the first line on the eighth Lub Dub with “De-light”. That’s the first line.
Here are the words for all four lines of the 16 Names Heart Chant:
Humility & Patience, Contentment & Delight.
Kindness & Honesty, Generosity, Right Speech.
Respect & Forgiveness, Gratitude & Loyalty.
Aspiration & Principles, Service (&) Courage.
