A talk by SkullSpace member Andrew Orr presented at Winnipeg Code Camp 2011 on February 26th.
Over the last few years, we have seen an explosion of hackerspaces being built around the world. We will take a brief tour of some of the more interesting and historically significant spaces built in places such as Berlin and Vienna. We will look at the purpose of these places and how they bring together technically savvy people with creative ideas and give them an outlet to focus their talents. We will conclude by discussing the first Winnipeg hackerspace, and its goal of bringing together the creative community of builders, designers and especially programmers to create something amazing.
