A L L is a dance film that features people living with Parkinson’s disease performing alongside their caretakers, professional dancers, and students. The development of movement through six weeks of improvisation and embodied storytelling, explores the idea of home.
Dance performance is most often associated with the physical virtuosity of elite artist athletes, whereas dance therapy for those with neurological disorders like Parkinson’s, most typically happens in clinical settings rather than in the theater or onscreen. All attempts to broaden the kinds of voices represented in dance performance and the film demonstrates that community can be built across ages, races, and abilities through humor, vulnerability, and the joy of moving together.
