The movement of a people begins with movement within oneself.
The Shift is the final installment in the Trilogy by award-winning directors Joseph Johnson-Camí and
Ayelen Liberona. Moving beyond the confinements of documentary, fiction and experimental genres, the film began with the question, “Is another world possible?” Starring legendary dance artist Margie Gillis in a powerful portrayal of a rebellion inspiring goddess resurrected from the damaged earth, her character attunes our senses to society’s need for an empathic and embodied connection with the world. Her uprise is triggered by ballsy beatboxer Balu Ballistic and spoken word artist True Daley, as they inspire a fearless group of teenagers to jam on real issues that deeply affect their lives - from racism to big pharma’s push to medicate their dissenting behaviours. Through stunning imagery and a veil of magical realism, The Shift speaks to the momentous uprisings of our times as we begin to re-imagine our relationship with this earth and the beings with whom we share it.
