This video was created for the multi-venue Voices Festival in North Bay in early 2010. The theme was the forgotten or stolen voices of women throughout history.
The inspiration came from a painting by John Everett Millais that I encountered while doing my BFA in the 1990's. I was never able to get it out of my mind. Ophelia (1852) floats lifeless in shallow water, however her expression is serene, perhaps even ecstatic. Since 2004, I have created montages where my subjects are involved with water in some way.
