My first short film about a freediver (Rebecca) who overcame heroin addiction through breathless meditation. Her inspiring experience reminds us to dig deeper into ourselves to find our passions, to push beyond our fears, and to learn how to love ourselves.
As soon as I met Rebecca, I knew I wanted to make a short film about her. Funnily enough, I couldn't swim, so I knew I had to bring in an experienced underwater filmmaker. I really wanted to do something I
hadn't seen before, so using the drone at Dahab, Egypt - which has incredibly heavy security - was a must. I met Karim Iliya about a month later - he's the go-to drone guy in Maui, he's a freediver, and his underwater shots have gotten printed in National Geographic Magazine. Right then, I knew we had the perfect team.
