Michael Shuck (Associate Professor of Theology, Loyola University Chicago)
John Crowley-Buck (PhD Candidate in Theology, Loyola University Chicago)
This lunch seminar discussed "Democracy, Culture, Catholicism: Voices from Four Continents," a book edited by Michael Schuck, associate professor of theology at Loyola University Chicago and co-director of the International Jesuit Ecology Project, and John Crowley-Buck, a PhD candidate in theology at Loyola University Chicago. The result of a recent three-year international research project, the book showcases essays from Indonesia, Lithuania, Peru, and the U.S. which explore how, since the 1800s, these nations—each in its own very unique way—have experienced times of political, social, and religious oppression, oscillating between periods of liberation, tolerance, and religious freedom.
