In this series, Dr. Don G. Pickney takes us into “The Glory” that is espoused in Isaiah 60 and 61, and surrounds the event of “The Day of Jehovah Tsaba” (Lord of hosts) announced in Isaiah 2:11-12, and spoken of also in Haggai 2:5-9 and announced by an angel of Glory in Zechariah 2:8-13. The 24th Psalm declares:
Psalms 24: 1,8,10 Amp “A Psalm of David. THE EARTH is the Lord's, and the fullness of it, the world and they who dwell in it. Who is the King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Who is [He then] this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah [pause, and think of that]!”
Each week, we are looking into the various aspect of God’s glory. In this teaching, Pastor Don continues his journey revealing the exceeding glory that will be manifested for the body of Christ – the Church – during this event from now until the rapture of the Church at the coming of the Lord.
The great hymn, “How Great Thou Art” was made famous by the soloist George Beverly Shea as Rev. Billy Graham filled stadiums across the nation and the world. No one questioned the glory of God in His creation as this great hymn became so popular in churches everywhere. Congregations worshipped as they sang, “Oh Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder, Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made, I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power throughout the universe displayed. Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee, How great thou art, How great thou art… When through the woods and forest glades I wander, and hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees, When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur, and see the brooks and feel the gentle breeze. Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee, How great thou art, How great thou art.”
Truly, the glorious God, when he “created the heaven and earth and the fullness thereof” it was, and is still, glorious. He filled the earth will all kinds of precious metals and jewels, and supplies for energy, etc. For the simple reason that God created them, they are glorious and worth to be appreciated.
Job 27:13-17 AMP “This [which I am about to tell] is the portion of a wicked man with God, and the heritage which oppressors shall receive from the Almighty: (14) If his children are multiplied, it is for the sword; and his offspring will not have sufficient bread. (15) Those who survive him, [the pestilence] will bury, and [their] widows will make no lamentation. (16) Though he heaps up silver like dust and piles up clothing like clay, (17) He may prepare it, but the just will wear it, and the innocent will divide the silver.”
Again, God declares to Israel:
Deuteronomy 28:2-13 “All these blessings will run you down, latch hold on you, and refuse to let you go because you respond obediently to the Voice of GOD: (3) Blessings in the city, blessings in the country; (4) blessing on your children, the crops of your land, your livestock, the calves of your herds, the lambs of your flocks. (5) blessing on your basket and bread bowl; (6) blessing in your coming in, blessing in your going out. (7) GOD will defeat your enemies who rise against you. They'll come at you one way and flee seven ways. (8) GOD will command blessings on your barns and workplaces; (10) All the peoples on Earth will see you lifted up, and living under ‘The Blessing,’ and they will hold you in respectful awe. (11) GOD will lavish you with good things: children from your womb, offspring from your animals, and crops from your land. (12) GOD will pour rain on your land on schedule and bless the work you take in hand. You will lend to many nations but you yourself won't have to take out a loan. (13) GOD will make you the head, not the tail; you'll be raised up to the very top echelon of prosperity, never at the bottom, as you obediently listen to and diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God.”
No question of Who we are to look to for an abundance of God’s “created glory.” He speaks of the glory that Bev Shea sang about with stark clarity in one passage:
Deuteronomy 8:7-18 AMP “For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, flowing forth in valleys and hills; ( (9) A land in which you shall eat food without shortage and lack nothing in it; a land whose stones are iron and out of whose hills you can dig copper. (10) When you have eaten and are full, then you shall bless the Lord your God; (12) Lest when you have eaten and are full, and have built goodly houses and live in them, (13) And when your herds and flocks multiply and your silver and gold is multiplied and all you have is multiplied; (17) then beware lest you say in your [mind and] heart, My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth. But you shall remember that it is the Lord that gives you power to get wealth."
