In Her Shoes Project: No-one Who Harms Me Will Go Unpunished. I Am A Woman.
To coincide with International Women’s Day 2017, our performance, titled No-one Who Harms Me Will Go Unpunished. I Am a Woman. is a brand new resource to raise awareness of women’s experiences of hate crime in Scotland.
This subtitled audio is the backdrop to our choreographed protest. A film of the live performance will be available here soon.
The audio piece is based on the Zoe Leonard artwork 'I Want a President...'
Women contributed their declarations against damaging political rhetoric by creating a list of demands for the governance of their country.
This performance is an innovative example of engaging women in making art that advocates for social justice. The groups have participated in the project since May 2016.
The work is important because it speaks about both their experiences of hate crime and their agency in challenging prejudice by demanding change.
