This is my very first Full HD production. Shot on a Canon 7D with an EF-S 15-85mm lens at 1080 25p.

This is a music video I created for my friend Christian. He composes piano music in his free time - this is a song from his second album 'Love Songs for the 21st Century', coming late 2011. During the summer in London, various pianos were donated to the 'City of London Festival' and were placed in different areas for the public to play on. It proved to be a huge success and attracted massive crowds, with people who are either able to play piano or simply be spectators.

Christian was in town, so I decided that this is an excellent opportunity to showcase his music to an audience and make a short video about it as well. I was able to film him at 6 different pianos with 8 different angles. It was incredible to be able to film in such amazing daylight, even at 21:00 in the evening - thanks to the summer sun!

A few days later we went out again to shoot some additional scenes which focuses on Christian wandering around London in a melancholic state. We wanted to keep the mood of the song flowing through the visuals and body language. I knew that the end product would look the way it does now, with piano shots and general shots of Christian walking around various parts of London.

It took a while for me to find the time to finish editing this piece as I now have a full-time job that takes up a lot of my time. After the first cut was made, I immediately took it to Christian for a screening. There were a few things he wanted changed, so we went out to do re-shoots and I cut everything in to form the second version. Early on during production, I suggested that we have the video colour-graded to make it look more professional. A friend from my previous job, Jamie Welsh, once offered to grade something for me, free of charge, and so I jumped at the opportunity when the time came.

The grade took about 4 hours. We wanted to reduce redness; pop colours such as green and blue; bring detail back into over-exposed skies; and add an overall professional feel to the rest of the video.

There were many discussions about wording for the opening and closing credits, as Christian wanted to have a version that will be marketable. He eventually got his version, but this version is the Director's Cut, with simplified credits.
