As part of a project with Baja Designs, Red Olive set out to make an authentic video documenting a 4x4 trip on one of the most scenic trails in the lower 48 states, the Morrison Jeep Trail in Wyoming.
In order to document this experience, we sent our videographer along for the ride. As with all outdoor filming, you have to be there to experience and document the trip to get an authentic feel and look. This was the goal of the project, to film the entire journey from a first-person perspective, not through the lens of an outsider.
Because of the lack of space, light gear was necessary. The gear included two Sony a7sII cameras, a shotgun mic, and a few cine lenses. The video was shot in 4k to capture the beautiful Northern Wyoming views. For a lightweight drone, the DJI Phantom 4 was used.
Though this shoot took a lot of planning and prep work, the finished project was a success. We were happy, our videographer was happy, and the client was happy. The goal was achieved, and the footage allows the viewer to jump in and experience the beauty and thrill of the Morrison Jeep Trail.
