After receiving valuable feedback from our participants and our technology experts, the Big Rock Tournament has decided to expand the type of camera used for verification of blue marlin. Any camera that stores media on an SD Card, Micro SD Card or Compact Flash Card may be used. This will open it up to GoPro, Garmin, Tactacam, Canon, Nikon, Sony and many other cameras. *Please note! This does NOT include cell phones.
In the Tournament, a released billfish will be awarded 125 points. If the team can provide indisputable video or photo evidence that the released billfish is a blue marlin, the team will be awarded 400 points. The video or photo must show the mate touching the leader and a clear shot of the fish. When the release form is turned into the weigh station, they must also turn in the SD Card, Micro SD Card or Compact Flash Card from their camera. The media cards will be returned to the participants as soon as possible. It is highly recommended that you have spare media cards.
Be sure to set the date and time on your camera. We will read the metadata associated with the video or photo to be sure it matches the release logs of the tournament committee.
*Because of the sensitive nature of data stored on phones, the tournament will not download information from any phones. Therefore, the tournament will not accept photos or video from phones.
