After discovering firsthand the failed leadership attempts in urban programs, Steve Johnson realized that what was missing in the lives of at-risk youth were long term, vital relationships. His vision to raise up a new generation of mentors equipped to deal with urban issues came to fruition with the founding of URBAN SPORTS.
In this discussion, Steve shares some critical lessons learned along the way, as well as the pitfalls and flaws he encountered in starting up his business model. He offers his thoughts on some of the issues that plaque the urban community, including the need for leadership development and the significant role the business community plays in that process.
