The first day of March, Women's History Month in 2017, resulted in a celebration and many visitors to the state Capitol building in Albany, NY. Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul is chair of the state's funded suffrage centennial observance. New York's women have been voting for 100 years. Featured in the "Spirit of 1776" horse drawn wagon used by Edna Kearns in 1913 grassroots organizing for the vote in New York City and Long Island. Photos from the Governor's press office. Special tours were arranged all during March at the state capitol building to cover the state's long history and how it is considered the Cradle of the women's rights movement in the United States.
