ORFIII Artist in Residence - Pixel, Bytes & Film - Christoph Schwarz - 2017, 30min
Documentation vs. Imagination. Under the title LDAE (German acronym for “let the others decide”), Christoph Schwarz develops a participative format for the Austrian culture channel ORFIII. The filming of his new short film is broadcast online and a web community directs, deciding on the plot, locations, and the final edited version. Schwarz hopes to reach artistic heights – but comes to a crash landing.
While watching the broadcast of his own creation backstage at the TV station, Schwarz revisits the development process of his project. As an artistic examination of the dynamics behind an internet-based community project, the film discusses the void in the shadow zone of technological innovation. The border between the existing internet project and self ironic video diary is, as in many other films of Christoph Schwarz, blurred out.
